So now the waiting and longing is over and you’re finally pregnant! Now the attention turns to the next nine months and making sure that you are as healthy as possible throughout. Obviously if you are healthy then it is a better experience for you but it also goes a long way to minimizing the chances of your baby being of a low birth weight or having a birth defect. The first week after conception is a really important time for any woman. Very few mums-to-be recognise the fact that they’ve conceived and are about to embark on the most phenomenal journey of their lives but that isn’t to say the signs aren’t there. The first week after conception is usually the period of time that the first signs of pregnancy emerge. They are noticeable if you know what you’re looking for but then are easy to mistake for something else.

If you’ve been trying for a baby then the likelihood is that you’ll have your eyes peeled for any early signs of pregnancy. Well, there are more than enough to look for! Some mistakenly believe that a missed period and morning sickness are the only signs, but far from it. Whilst very few women exhibit all of the pregnancy signs there are, over 95% of all women display at least one of them. Those will believe that the 5% are the lucky ones!

If you have just taken a pregnancy test that has confirmed that you are to have a baby in the next nine months or so, you probably have a hundred questions about what it is going to be like, whether you’ll enjoy pregnancy and how you can make the most of your time with child. However, I have a little bit of bad news for you. No matter how many pregnant women or mothers you speak to when asking what pregnancy is like, I guarantee that you won’t get two answers that are the same.
Every woman’s experience of pregnancy is different. Some love it; some hate it and can’t wait until the baby’s born. Some find that they’re full of energy throughout the pregnancy but then others feel lethargic and often nauseous throughout. In truth, no woman ever knows how she will feel until the pregnancy actually gets underway. However, there are things you can do to try and promote a feeling of well being throughout your pregnancy.
